Kudos to the brains behind this stellar idea - definitely changing the way we can buy cars. I’d like to see it catch on with all types of autos. Maybe registering at Babies R Us for the baby shower will become passe and there will be options for the friends and family to pay for the new mini van replete with custom painted fire flares?
This post by @GuyClapperton from Harvard Business Review addresses some recent research indicating that people who use crowdfunding platforms have expectations that are shaped by the social web. They’re tech savvy, they like the way that social technology enables them to become close to and interact with brands that they care about, and they pursue this type of interaction because it’s fun for them. His conclusion? Companies that are pursuing social investment from the crowdfunding community should capitalize on this by connecting with the community on social platforms. That’s where potential investors are spending time already, and they’ll be responsive to companies that demonstrate a shared commitment to and understanding of the social web. As #highered thinks about crowdfunding, we need to keep this in mind.
